Seeing the Rick Owens show this morning (I know, I'm a bit late, in the blogosphere) put things in perspective. As soon as I saw the models, I was immediately thrilled to see something different from the Kloss twin-dolls. But from the stills, I didn't really get what the whole thing was about. DiS magazine did a great round-up of the videos that you can see here. Suddenly, all other shows seemed vapid and well, just LAME. If fashion is truly an art form and not just a commercial industry, moments like these give it credibility. I try to keep it short here, so I'll just say: I have an enormous amount of respect for Rick Owens, going outside of the scared-little-designer-with-inflated-ego box that most of them are in. RESPECT.
