Once in a blue moon we come across an artist that demonstrates that fashion can be an art form, outside of the fashion system of trends and commerce. Maiko Takeda is such an artist. Tokyo-born (shout out to our favorite city!), she has created incredibly inventive pieces in fashion, several of which you'll find below: her 'shadow' accessories, that require light to bring them fully to life; and her futuristic-porcupine millinery, which artist Bjork incorporated in her tour. Enjoy perusing her website for further projects and details of her life.
